Mars

Mars (23-Nov-2007)

Here is an early image from 2007's apparition of Mars. Mars subtends only 14 arcseconds, yet is already showing some surface detail and the south polar cap. It is currently a brilliant red/orange ruby shining in the constellation of Gemini. This image was taken with a 90mm f/5.6 refractor with a 5x TeleVue PowerMate for an effective focal length of 2500mm. It was upsampled 2x using Mitchell resampling in Registax.
